Beautiful Carrick a Rede Rope Bridge Pictures

Beautiful Carrick a rede rope bridge | If you visit the village of Ballintoy in Northern Ireland, possibilities are you’ll brave the walk across the rope bridge that connects the mainland just outside the village to Carrick-a-Rede, a small island but 70 feet offshore. Native lore says the first bridge was engineered 350 years ago by locals who fished for salmon from the island.

During the Nineteen Seventies, there was simply one rope handrail on the bridge, and a number of the picket slats had fallen through. Today, the latest version of the bridge uses wires for the suspension and Douglas fir for the slats. Still, with a ninety eight-foot drop, a stroll across the rope bridge isn’t for the faint of heart.
